Home, James.

Hey crew,

Sorry for the lack of post on the last day shooting in New York – I got a little side tracked from all the shopping and sightseeing that needed to be done! I’ve returned home now and sitting in my den going through all the shots from the trip and starting to sort them out for post production work. Our final day on the shoot was down in Brooklyn after a tip-off from a friend of mine, and it turned out to be the most amazing location for our concept. Having a burst fire hydrant helped that cause, and the derelict locations afterwards were just perfect! Rhys being quite fond of water revelled in the first shot’s conditions, and then a small walk got us to our other locations… I know it’s now tough for the KC boys to choose which shot is going to be their hero, but it’s better than having none at all!

Water anyone?

Our 6 Hour ‘Shoot Wrap-Up’ following the Brooklyn locations. We thought it best to go over things with a few cocktails…

I think our trip to New York was highly successful and the shots are going to look amazing in print. The KC boys are still deciding on the print format for the catalogue, but I’m sure it will be a great little storybook of our adventures. I can’t wait to see them drop in stores in late September, and you folks will have to checkout the range because they have really stepped up to the plate (yes, we did go to the baseball) with their summer gear…

Bit of downtime this week catching up with loads of backed up work, and then I’m off to Millicent to film for Conflict Films’ ONE HD Rally Champs round this weekend. Can’t wait!

Sunrise over Manhatten

We awoke to a sunrise over Central Park this morning, with a shoot in Strawberry Fields… inspiration John Lennon. We then trekked to Rockafella to their lookout and shot with the morning light over the city – amazing view up there.

Quick post today as we’re just about to go to the baseball. Go Braves!

times square shoot…

Times Square was the location of our shoot today for our Summer Hero shot. Rhys was working with the lens really well and the shot turned out great (considering it was 35 degrees and 70% humidity)! I can’t show it to you guys yet, because that’s cheating. But instead I’ll show a couple of shots from last night’s rooftop shoot where the boys decided to flame up a cigar for the shot and Kiss Chacey designer Ben Clark had a go stepping in front of the lens as well as our main man Rhys…

So there you have it – cigars have a definite coolness factor!

I’m off to bed now before our morning shoot in Strawberry Fields and the subway – should again be a great day…

Hope all is well back home with everyone!

NY Heat Wave..

Hey crew,

Just a quick post on here from the last couple of days… Had some amazingly hot weather here in NY which has been great for the shoot. We’ve had full sun on everything so far which is really giving that summer NY feel. Keep it up Mr Weather Dude.

Today we shoot the subway and Times Square, and then we’re heading to the David Letterman Show so should be great! I think we might even be sneaking to a Broadway show tonight as well. Really living it up NY style.

For now, here’s a couple of behind the scene shots from the last couple of days in Central Park and the Statue of Liberty:

More stories tonight folks – hold the line!

Sunday morning in Central Park

Yesterday was a great day for scouting some spots for the shoot next week… We got to it a little later than normal as the night previous ended up in a little Aussie bar in Soho and free shots were flowing fairly often. Note to self: shots are bad.  The weather has been amazing for us with 30 degree days (and hopefully for the next four days as well), and blaring sunshine. We’ve locked in a couple more hero shot locations and we’re ready to roll out the lights and camera. The uptown tour yesterday took us around Central Park and into Harlem, which was a real eye opener. Definitely some potential to shoot in there!

Our model Mr Rhys Uhlich arrived this morning after a overnight delay in LA and is amped for some time in front of the lens. We’ll give him a couple of hours sleep to freshen up this morning, and then we’re away!

Last night I decided to head to bed a little earlier so I could enjoy an early morning  jog around Central Park. I donned the running gear and headed down Broadway towards one of NY’s most iconic locations. As I turned into the park I noticed hundreds of people mulling around the running track and I realised I’d stumbled upon the NY Half Marathon! It was the most intense hour for me running along the track in the reverse direction listening to the crazy Americans cheering on the thousands of runners entered. I ended up running about 10kms just to follow the sights and sounds of the race, and I may have jumped in the fun-run for a couple of kms as well. The race passed through Times Square where the festivities were unbelievable – singers, dancers, baloons, and thousands of spectators. The Yanks really know how to turn it on!

Anyway, I’ve got to start preparing for the day’s shoot, so I’ll finish with a few photos from yesterday and a couple of iPhone shots from my adventure this morning:

Pretty excited to get this Kiss Chacey shoot underway! Keep track this week as we give you more info and behind the scenes stuff on our NY Summer Range Shoot!

Scouting

Today we awoke to crystal clear skys and the sound of hustle and bustle.. we spent the day on the beat, sourcing some awesome locations North and South of Houston.  We rode the subway and mingled with the local talent in Union Square.

Tonight the KC boys take me out on the town to really show me the ropes. Dinner in Soho and sipping on cocktails.

Rhys, who is arriving on Saturday night should only add integrity to the tour of NYC..

Here is a couple more photos from our trek today -

Flights and buses

So myself and the Kiss Chacey crew are sitting here in our hotel just off Times Square after a little nana nap. We’ve had a couple of long days but New York is an amazing place! So many people and so many things to do. 10 days won’t be enough!

Flight out of Melbourne was easy… no troubles on the way over with luggage or delays. Just seemed all a little bit too easy. Fingers crossed for the way back. We had a bit of a night out last night to introduce ourselves to the big apple, but got to do some touristy stuff today. Took a bus around the city and stopped off at a few cool iconic NY locations and was blown away by the amount of advertising that is filling the streets – a commercial photographer’s dream! Had a bit of rain today, but tomorrow is fine and sunny and hopefully around 30 degrees… our model is arriving on Saturday night, so the real stuff starts on Sunday. Tomorrow = shopping and scouting.

Pretty tired right now, so I’ll finish with a bunch of photos from today!

3 in a row…

So a few of you might have seen my third [R]evoultion cover in a row sitting on the shelves. Pretty amped about this one… It’s one of those articles that you put a hell of a lot of time into and it all pays off in the end. Grant Allen was going HUGE the whole week, so why wouldn’t he be sitting on the front page?

Here’s a couple more from the trip:

Again, I’m sorry for the lack of posts of late… but things are just nuts. Heading to New York in five days to shoot a range for Kiss Chacey. Can’t wait to show you the results from there!
