Busy times ahead…

Hey crew,

Huge apologies for lack of posting in the last few weeks – it’s been pretty crazy here in Melbourne, and it just gets harder and harder to find time for my own folio and blog!

The next few weeks are insane for me – driving (again) next week to Adelaide to shoot 4 different hotels in 5 days for Country Club Hotels and Resorts which I am really looking forward to, then it’s back to Melbourne for some post work and a few other shoots, then it’s to NYC for me and the Kiss Chacey team. Also looking forward to a shoot with Blinq Photography in the middle of that bunch as well. Should be a great month and a bit!

When the Kiss Chacey Crew and I head to New York I’ll be trying to post a blog update every day with some images, videos and stories of the catalogue shoot. It’ll be a great few days and I’m really looking forward to heading over there to see what the fuss is all about! Our model Rhys Uhlich has been jet setting around the world and I see on his facebook page he’s been in Peru recently – sounds like a tough life!

I’m also heading to Millicent in a few weeks with Conflict Films to shoot the penultimate event for the AORC Champs. I hear we’re doing some flying again, which should be awesome. Keep your eye on ONE HD for a replay of the Finke Desert Race which was shown last Sunday night. Great episode and a bit of content in there from yours truly. The shot following this blog post I took on the way home from Finke last time from about 1000ft – and if you’re wondering …they’re cows!

Anyway, I’ve got to start packing for this trip next week so I’ll be in touch again soon!

Red Centre

A couple of weeks ago I jumped in a car on a balmy Melbourne Tuesday morning and arrived at Ayres Rock a couple of hours later (give or take a few). The drive isn’t the nicest of things to do, but it allowed me to see the big rock in our red centre. I hadn’t ventured to central Australia before, so the landscape was breathtaking for me. The dirt is so amazingly red, and the colours at sunset and sunrise are fantastic.

The trip to Central Australia was actually for a film crew named Conflict Films as we were shooting the Finke Desert Race in and around Alice Springs. We needed a timelapse at the rock, so the four hour detour from the main highway wasn’t an issue to get 5secs of footage. The race weekend was a great success and you can see the episode on ONE HD this Friday night @ 7pm. I’ve seen the episode after a sneaky beer with Tony Butler of Conflict Films, and his production work is just getting better and better. The quality of footage coming out of his numerous Sony cams is nothing short of brilliant. You’ll see a bit of my handy work in the episode as well ;)

As for the stills side of things from my red centre trip – I snuck a few shots in during the trip… actually, a bit more than a few. Couldn’t help myself really.

The colours are amazing.

Sunrise timelapse gave me some creative time.

For now, that’s it from me. I have a couple of easy weeks (by easy I mean I’m around Melbourne!) before it all gets insanely busy again.

A few new things to post soon, so keep an eye out!

Dan.
