Exciting times…

5dmark2vid

It’s here

LONDON, UK, 27th May 2009: Canon announced today it will release a firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark II allowing users to manually control exposure when shooting video. The new firmware will be available for download from 2 June 2009 on Canon Europe’s support web site.
Following the launch of the EOS 5D Mark II in September 2008, Canon’s Research and Development team has listened closely to customer feedback to develop additions to the camera’s movie recording functionality.

Allowing EOS 5D Mark II owners to achieve even more stunning video results with the camera, the firmware update will include the following manual controls when shooting video:

* Full aperture selection
* ISO speed: Auto, 100 – 6400 and H1
* Shutter speed: 1/30th – 1/4000th second

The EOS 5D Mark II integrates full HD movie capability into a high-end 21.1 Megapixel camera; opening a multitude of new possibilities for photojournalists and news photographers. Since its launch the camera has proved its appeal to professionals working in diverse fields, from studio and wedding to nature and travel. Now, following customer feedback, Canon has improved functionality for professional video users, further unleashing the potential of the EOS 5D Mark II for cinematographers and photographers alike.

Still no 24p it looks like.

Specialized Road Trip…

So only a couple of weeks ago I shot a cover for [R]evolution on this Apollo Bay road trip. If you haven’t seen it yet, click HERE.

For all of you keen MTB’ers that want a look at the ‘behind the scenes’ Hill and Fairclough, check out the following slideshow. Gee these guys can ride bikes. Let’s hope that Sam and Brendan rip the rest of the season to bits!

Matty White – shoot and site

Well now I have proved in the title I can rhyme… let’s get posting!

Back in the day, I used to do the odd triathlon. I was a bit of a fair-weather racer and hated the wetsuit swim. Nowadays, I take the easy road and sit on the end of a camera – seems like a good way to pretend I’m keeping fit! I trained fairly hard in my time, but not half the workload of Matty White – who has single handedly blown the Adelaide competition apart this year. He has a list of results as long as my arm, and has decided to step things up a notch this year and race Pro Category in the infamous Hawaiian Ironman. He has also formed a great relationship with Dan @ DTR Sports Management, and has a huge list of sponsors that can be seen on his site.

I had the opportunity of shooting with Matty last time I was in Adelaide, which I was quite excited about. Getting time out of athletes is a lot like pulling teeth, so getting Matty for a full day was brilliant. I had some ideas I wanted to reproduce, but I did put a strain on the friendship during this process – pulling Matt and Dan out of bed @ 4.30am was an easy way of doing this… Poor Matty had to don the speedos at 6am on the beach, and I can’t really describe the morning as balmy:

I also wanted to shoot the other aspects of triathlon, being the bike and run – so we setup a studio, and with the track-stand capabilities of Matt, and the strong hand of Dan, we were able to hold him upright long enough to shoot this (pretty cool bike setup btw):

Being sponsored by Saucony, Matt was more than happy to pose in the great new running getup. If I ever decided to run again, I think I’d want a full kit like this!

Anyway, after this shoot I came back to good ol’ Melbourneo and finished the rest of Matty’s site @ www.mattywhite.com.au, and I think it looks pretty good… if I don’t say so myself!

For now, I’m out!

Super slow-mo

I’ve been watching a lot of video’s lately and really excited about the way video is going over 500fps so often… This is a little teaser, but it is just amazing to watch. Click the HD button and watch it in full screen like I did… it’s a real treat.

If you’re RSS reader won’t show you the youtube clip, click here…

seagate moonta bay shoot

Just a quick Friday night post for you folks… thanks again goes out to Mark for the setup on my new blog  – he’s joining me in forming the php end of my design services which is great for my web 2.0 savvy clientele!

Had a crazy week back in Adelaide last week, and one of the reasons was this shoot down in Moonta Bay. Had two days to shoot the whole region to plaster their walls with local prints, and a bunch of food shots for their new menu in the bistro. Such a beautiful spot down there – if only they had decent phone and internet reception!!! Ha. If you drop by, you can buy any of the prints straight off the wall – I think they turned out pretty nice, if I don’t say so myself…

Anyway, here is a couple of food shots and their new Head Chef:

Kiss Chacey Winter Range…

Hey folks,

This shoot was probably my most fun to date… when one of your ideas like the water shot gets the tick of approval, and then turns out great – it’s a pretty good feeling. I was amped to see Kiss Chacey jump at the chance to shoot Rhys in this setting, and with a bit of organising and a fat generator, it all worked out in the end. I have been informed the water shot will be plastered on walls in stores at 2m wide – nice one guys and cheers for getting this shot done!

This shoot was the winter range labelled “If it ends tonight, It’ll be alright”. Hot stuff I think. See in stores for POS and storybooks or check them out @ kisschacey.com.au!

sam hill smashing covers…

Well, V16 of [R]evolution has just dropped on the stands – and lucky me landed another cover…

Have a load of stuff inside, but was ultra stoked on shooting Sam and Brendan at Apollo Bay in January and even more stoked to see Sam smashing a berm on the cover!
